Barry Wilson
LEAD RIGGER
Barry Wilson was raised in Texas and comes to Blue Lapis Light with 28 years of rock climbing experience and 45 years in the construction industry. He served on the Central Texas Climbing Committee (CTCC) for 14 years. The CTCC is an independently chartered advisory committee established to provide guidance and expert knowledge to Texas Parks and Wildlife regarding rock climbing resources and the placement of fixed protection at Enchanted Rock State Natural Area. In 2018, Barry and his team received the Always a Safe Flight Award, a Special Citation from the Austin Critics Table for his rigging design and execution in Belonging, Part One (2017). When not throwing ropes for Blue Lapis, Barry can be found hiking, climbing, biking, and repairing the trails of Central Texas and North America.
Mike Klein
RIGGER
Mike Klein has been an avid rock climber for the past 35 years. Mike was introduced to Blue Lapis Light when Barry asked him for help carrying sandbags at the Long Center in 2012. Despite the intensity of work required for such a pretty dance show, Mike was entranced. His favorite BLL memory has been watching the fireworks after the Fairmont performance. He appreciates the process and culture involved in building a show from inception to climax to crash. When not helping with Blue Lapis Light shows, he can be found exploring the great outdoors via rock climbing.
Adam Mitchell
RIGGER
Adam Mitchell is a Warrior’s Way Trainer, AMGA Assistant Rock Guide, and AMGA SPI Certified. He has worked with BLL on a number of shows including Belonging, Part One (2017) for which the BLL rigging team received the Always a Safe Flight Award, a Special Citation from the Austin Critics Table for their rigging design and execution.
JOHN MYRICK
RIGGER
John began climbing in the mountains of New Mexico in 1980. Since then he has traveled the world climbing, coaching, and adventuring. Over his career, John has achieved many noteworthy ascents, first ascents, and coaching milestones. One of his favorite achievements is the creation of the Collegiate Climbing Series for USA Climbing which established climbing as a college sport for the nation in 2009. John has also made it a priority to give back to the climbing community through decades of volunteering and stewardship efforts. John retired from coaching and has ventured into new work (all still climbing related) including building meteorological towers on wind farms, tree trimming, and rigging for Blue Lapis Light. John continues to climb regularly and loves spending time with his amazing daughters, running, cycling, fly fishing, and pretty much anything outdoor related.

ALEX SOTO
LIGHTING DESIGNER
Alex is a lighting designer and director whose work can be seen at concerts, festivals and events throughout Texas, including ACL, SXSW, FunFunFun Fest and Formula 1. Soto specializes in creating high-end visual displays utilizing 3D projection mapping and LED video presentation, and he has worked with national and international artists throughout his 12-year career. Soto’s lighting design and design implementation work on the annual Dell Children’s Gala in Austin has been written up as “production values you’d expect from the Oscars.” His work has also been profiled in Projection, Lights and Staging News. Soto has worked with Blue Lapis Light on various projects as a Lighting Designer since 2012.
William Meadows
SOUND DESIGNER
He has collaborated with numerous choreographers and dance companies including Deborah Hay, Forklift Danceworks, Yakov Sharir, Jose Bustamante, and Contemporary Dance/Fort Worth. His work has been recognized with Austin Critics’ Award nominations for Best Original Composition and wins in 2007 and 2010 for Best Sound Design. Meadows has been the resident sound designer and technical consultant for Blue Lapis Light since 1996.
